Chinese Pronunciation Dictionary

If you do not know how to pronounce a Chinese word or Chinese sentence, please input the blank, then system will give you an audio file of standard mandarin pronunciation.
1, Text should not be more than 512 characters.
2, Please enter text you want to synthesize.
3, Download WAV audio file, then play it.

Technical Notes:
1, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 sp2 and above is recommended.
2, Encoding of web browser should be configured to 'GB' (Simplified Chinese) to use this dictionary
3, After submit, you will visit an encryption page. Please make sure your web browser can visit encryption page and use DLL program of Microsoft.

Hi, the pronunciation dictionary just can be used on IE, not firefox and the other browsers. Please check why. http://www.learnmandarinonline.org/dictionary.html

You can fix the problem by putting "document." before "option" and "TTS" in the submitForm function.

Yes, I've been studying it on and off for seven years.

BTW, I noticed one more problem. Words pronounced li3 such as 李 or 里 are pronounced bi3.

We found out there are some dissension about pronunciation of some single characters. The whole sentence pronunciation is perfect. But pronunciation of some single characters is not perfect. I suggest you can list a note. You can suggest users only input whole sentence and not input single characters.

既然大家都是学习中文的,我们就直接用中文回复吧。
首先看到这么多外国朋友喜欢和在研究中文,非常高兴。对于Beirne和Daniel讨论的li3和bi3的发音,的确对于学习汉语的外国朋友,li3和bi3不是很容易区别。bi3是平舌音,li3是卷舌音。一般在正常的中文对话中,尤其在说话快的时候,不容易区分,建议可以根据上下文进行判断。
听了Beirne发在论坛上的2个录音“李宇春的博客”和“我坐在李女士的旁边”,很清楚是li3,肯定没有问题。并没有偏向bi3的发音。这个发音在本程序里,尤其在整句发音中,没有问题。不能很好判断的学员,可以多根据上下文进行练习,不要陷入一个一个的单字上练习。
本程序,我们已经经过一段时间的测试,主要是将同一文本的程序录音和中央人民广播电台播音员的发音进行比照。目前看基本是合格的。当然目前还在测试检验中。这个程序也在考虑可以应用于正在研究的HSK考试的标准化机考中,作为基础发音标准。
至于这个Wiki维基百科的页面,对于国外的汉语学员是很有帮助的,但是由于是一般的兴趣人员撰写的,确实也有不少错误或者问题。可以作为学习的参考,但是不能作为学习的正式文献。更为标准的对汉语的研究文章,建议阅读中国社会科学院的“语言文字应用研究所”统一发布的关于汉语语言文字理论的研究文章。(http://myy.cass.cn/file/2006010417029.html)

I sent some more samples a few days ago showing how li3 becomes bi3 but haven't heard anything back.
